Regardinrankings vs. ratings:
think that one advantage of ratings is that people often do vary in
the degree of assigning constructs. The variance is important and most
people seem to havno difficulty making that more abstract assessment.
This is not to diminish whole person rankings, but{isn't asking a
person to fill out any form of grid an exercize in abstraction? As a
scientist of an empirical project, I'd suggest attempting to capture as
much variance as the participant is capable of providing (probably with
ratings). As a ther{pist or for a more complete assessment, I'd suggest
capturing more variance by attempting{ to construe the other's process
through an even older method: interpersonal relating.
