Re the Core rationale paper I passed you on Friday - I've been
talking with John and in light of the fact that it looks like we will
be sending a number of papers to BJP and BJCP in the near future,
John suggested we use the rationale paper to disseminate to
practitioners as a glossy rather than submit to a journal. This tact
has a number of advantages:
1. It means we can say anything we like without having to deal with
reviewers
2. We can cite it immediately as a PTRC briefing
3. It gets round the uncomfortable issue of 'selling' a product in a
non-empirical paper (later papers on the empirical basis of measure
will be fine)
4. It will be consistent with out tact of collaborating and
prioritising practitioners rather than putting something in an
academic journal - [I think MHF will like this]
5. We can fund the distribution of this to any lists of practitioners
we know of and thereby reach a much wider audience. This is, after
all, what we want to do.
I thought I'd let you know this now as it might influence comments.
What do you think?
To all others - you'll gather this relates to the ratiionale paper
which will also come your way very soon......
Thanks
Michael
