This e-mail addresses the following items in relation to the launch
conference planning, progress and (fervid) activity:
1. Conference Delegates
2. Conference Programme
3. Conference Binder
4. Conference Audio Visual Consultancy
5. CORE System User Experience Survey
6. MHF Meeting (please read urgently - action required)!
7. Miscellaneous
1. CONFERENCE DELEGATES
As of today we have 30 people who have confirmed that they will be
attending the conference. Those confirmed all represent psychological
therapy provision, and to-date we have no purchaser delegates. On
Wednesday of this week Michael began a 'bums on seats' campaign to
try and assure we had a full conference. The detail of the next waves
of conference 'notifications' are as follows:-
i) Yesterday, we applied to put a brief conference notification in
Health Service Journal and reserved a full page advert in Clinical
Psychology Forum to appear late May.
ii) Last night Michael took 80 conference registration packs to a EBP
conference at the Swallow Hotel in Sheffield which Frank is
attending.
iii) Today, we are mailing conference notifications to all
people either using components of the CORE System or having enquired
about using it (n=+/- 70) AND all provider respondents to the NHF
survey (n=+/- 200)
iv) On Monday, Michael is taking 40 conference registration packs to
conference registration packs to the BPS DCP executive meeting in
Birmingham.
v) Also on Monday, we are 'warm calling' all people who we mailed in
Phase 1 of the conference invites to check whether any registrations
are still in the pipeline.
vi) On Tuesday we are mailing conference notifications to all SPR
members (n=+/-150) AND all known Departments of Clinical Psychology
(n=+/- 170).
In total these phases of notification should put conference
information directly in the hands of over 700 people - and the
2 adverts will further disseminate the event.
2. CONFERENCE PROGRAMME
At a meeting yesterday we reviewed the conference programme in light
of the conference delegates more likely to be clinicians/providers
rather than purchasers. We feel comfortable with the morning session,
but feel that we may need to 'up the ante' on validation,
psychometrics, referential measures etc. for the audience. CORE
System Update 4 will contain a proposal for a slightly modified
programme in Session 3 immediately after lunch.
One thought to be going on with - We thought it may be useful to
dedicate the morning to CORE System Rationale & Infrastructure (as
planned) and the afternoon session to CORE System Utility - this
could be opened by Glenys to focus explicitly on issues related
to Using the CORE System.
ANY COMMENTS/THOUGHTS??
3. CONFERENCE BINDER
On Monday we are visiting our University Print Services to explore
the various materials options for the production of the Information
Binder. Print service can print directly onto binders and we will be
looking at the best VFM/Quality options. In addition we will be
getting firm timelines for production and have already started
putting together the 2 page insets which will make up the binder.
Production of insets may well get frenetic if print/production times
exceed 2 weeks. We will update you in CORE System Update 4.
4. CONFERENCE AUDIO-VISUAL CONSULTANCY
We have decided to utilize a national company (Saville Audio-Visual)
for the conference and have quotes for equipment which includes an
8'x6' screen, SVGA LCD projector, Custom made set and lectern, and
tie-clip and radio mikes for presenters and the questions and answers
session. Michael and I are meeting with Saville's for a demo of the
equipment and staging on Monday 11th May.
5. CORE System User Experience Survey
Between Janice, Kerry and Myself we have three workshops booked with
pilot sites who have been utilizing the entire CORE System for the
last 3 months. These are diaried for the 13th, 14th and 18th May. We
are in the process of designing a protocol to be given out at these
workshops to collect users opinions as to the 'quality' of the System
in addressing the design criteria. Demand characteristics
withstanding - these data would be used in presentation and in the
binder to demonstrate our commitment to the 'quality' of the syetm
and support. This is NOT research but simple 'consumer satisfaction'
- very much in the mould of Seligman I guess!!
Three things in addition:
1) If the consumer protocol design is considered useful - I would
suggest that it should be included as a materials component in the
Information binder.
2) Once designed, it would not present too much work to send out the
protocol to all users of the CORE Outcome measure.
3) The protocol is likely to separate design criteria across the
three domains of Structure (content & presentation), Process (methods
of use etc.) and Outcome (utility of data). These criteria will then
be addressed via a four pint likert scale.
6. MHF MEETING
All MHF grantholders have confirmed that they can make a meeting on
Tuesday 19th May.
WE NEED TO KNOW WHAT TIME YOU CAN ARRIVE AND WHAT TIME YOU WOULD NEED
TO LEAVE. THIS WOULD ALLOW US TO DEVELOP THE AGENDA AROUND CRITICAL
ISSUES NEEDING FULL REPRESENTATION AND DECISION (say 1 - 1.5 hours)
AND LESS CRITICAL ISSUES REQUIRING DISCUSSION.
CRITICAL ISSUES AT THE MOMENT INCLUDE - CORE-A (content and
copyright), managing post-conference interest in the CORE System,
finalising the conference programme and speakers, and agreeing
(pre-circulated drafts of binder material).
7. MISCELLANEOUS
Michael and I are meeting Martin Brown of the NHSE on Monday 11th May
to brief him as to the focus/objective of the content etc.
FORMIC have agreed informally that they would be very keen to send a
representative to put on a demonstration stand at the conference.
This end - we are looking to tie CORE enquiries to a dedicated phone
line, email address and P.O. Box.
Finally, if you're on the internet - visit the web site for the CORE
System: Copyright 1996 @
http://www.geocities.com/Area51/Vault/5492/CoreSystem4.html.
What you'll find is the web page for the Star Wars CORE System - it
seems that the force may be with others!!!
Until Thursday 30th April and CORE System Update 4
