Then I liked this sequence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n “Fungal form” from 1974 and by Alan Barrett-Danes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n “Out of one’s depth” by Ruth Barrett-Danes from 1996. And these by the couple (I assume they were a couple, or siblings?)<\/p>\n\n\n\n “Armchair struggles” 1978-1979.<\/p>\n\n\n\n “Predator pot 2” 1975-1978.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Then there was this by someone perhaps better known.<\/p>\n\n\n\n “Zoomorphic vase: the Tarasque”, Pablo Picasso, 1954.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Then you come to this huge piece, over 5 foot tool I suspect.<\/p>\n\n\n\n “Three Chineses vases” by Felicity Ayliffe from 2011.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Then to relatively tiny pieces.<\/p>\n\n\n\n “Three vases” by Geoffrey Swindell from 1995 and then back to larger pieces.<\/p>\n\n\n\n “Ten commandment pots” by Nicholas Pope from 1994. The lettering on each pot spells the commandment. The blurb said he wasn’t intending them as explicitly Christian but was exploring issues of spirituality. (Roughly, I didn’t take a shot of the blurb.) Then I was coming to the crossing (these ceramics run round the gallery around the atrium of the museum). I loved this.<\/p>\n\n\n\n “The heavens melting into the land” by Rhiannon Gwyn from 2022.<\/p>\n\n\n\n And finally, for this post anyway, I was back to Claire Curneen and another large piece.<\/p>\n\n\n\n “Baroque and berserk” from 2017.<\/p>\n\n\n\n I saw quite a lot more, both more ceramics, including some pieces by arguably more famous people (yes, I know, that Picasso chap has had some fame) and I went on into some of the rooms of the wonderful collection of paintings and prints and loved things there, both familiar ones and some I either hadn’t seen before or hadn’t remembered, but this is enough for one post I think and I think pays homage to some of the quirkiness I love of much modern ceramic work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n I had a wonderful few hours and the museum is a manageable size to visit regularly: no-one could take it all in in one visit but I can hoover up lovely chunks every time I go. Recommended and I hope to be altering my lifestyle in the next year or so to do more like this. I hope you enjoy at least one of the images.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Obviously the original artworks are from their creators (all named) and they currently belong to the museum.
