# False negative rate/risk (inferential testing)

Same as the "Type II error rate", i.e. the risk that a statistical test will not reject the null hypothesis. Depends on the effect size (q.v.), the statistical power (q.v.) of the test and very much on the sample size(s). See [inferential testing](https://www.psyctc.org/psyctc/glossary2/inferential-testing-tests/) for more detail.
