# LISREL

Small entry but seems right to honour it.

#### Details

One of the first, if not the first, software packages carrying out confirmatory factor analyses (CFA) and more general linear structural relationships (hence the name). Developed in the 1970s by Karl Jöreskog and Dag Sörbom who were breaking open a huge new field and psychological work was probably to become the biggest application area for the methods. It was my first introduction to these analyses. Still going but perhaps now a relatively marginal player alongside other specific packages for these analyses like AMOS and EQS and also the implementation of the methods in other general statistical software systems including several packages within the open source R system, particularly [lavaan](https://lavaan.ugent.be/) (from *la*tent *va*riable *an*alysis),
