The newsletter and its distribution
If you haven't seen it, this page gives you a feel of the format. WWW readers -- this page doesn't give you a very good feel of the format. I am mounting the original MS Publisher PUB files for the newsletter itself and you could have a look at the original version of this: raw PUB file {33kb} or as zipped PUB file {13kb} and, of course, you can look at the HTML versions of articles and take some cues from that
The circulation is to about 200 SPR(UK) members and to about 200 non-members to get publicity (not all issues). It is mounted on the Internet and in the last month (January 1996) there were 123 accesses to the five issues I have mounted there to date. All future articles will be mounted separately so you will be able to see what articles people read!
Copyright
All future paper issues (and the current Internet material), will have a "copyleft" declaration that the copyright on articles is held jointly by me and the author but we encourage reproduction provided:
However, we have no reasonable prospects of enforcing this! I am taking returning something for the newsletter as evidence you accept these terms.
What I'm looking for
Articles up to a page, maximum two. I use this point size (11) for the major articles and 9 point for reviews so they can be longer than what you see here. I'd love very short (one paragraph) reviews where they seem appropriate. Remember the focus is psychotherapy research not psychotherapy!
Editorial licence
I put the newsletter together in spare time and take editorial licence with typos, and tweaking style. I may cut things to fit. I'll say if I make major cuts and flag them. I don't have time negotiate these things so you'll have to trust me. Sorry!
How to submit things
I love submissions by Email or diskette (DOS format 3½" or 5¼"diskette) but accept typed work on paper and 'fax (but not handwritten things please!) I can cope with most WP file formats though Word for Windows, RTF, WordPerfect 5.1 or ASCII are preferred.
The 'phone and 'fax number is:
0181 - 725 2540
If you are 'faxing a submission please minimise italics and use a large font if you have control over that: nothing less than 12 point. Please feed the paper as squarely as possible. This helps my OCR software handle the fax and saves me typing!
