Oh dear, maybe these pages should go as they're way out of date. No, I'll keep them as they're of possible historical interest. I haven't been involved with PSFTC for about twelve years. For up to date information see the AFT training pages: http://www.aft.org.uk/docs/AccreditedcoursescontactdetailsforstudentsAugust2010.pdf (update the "2010" as commonsense dictates!)

Back to the hisorical information which probably dates from about 1998!

The Prudence Skynner Family Therapy Clinic is a unit within South West London & St. George's Mental health NHS Trust offering family therapy within the adult mental health services. The service was first started in the mid 1970's and now provides a number of general and specialist clinics.

Unlike most other family therapy services in the NHS the clinic has always been located within the adult services and sees families where adults or the whole family are having problems. However, the clinic does accept referrals where children or adolescents are having problems. In addition to the general teams the clinic has specialist teams focusing on problems in families with elderly members, with members with an eating disorder (child adolescent or adult), with members with a learning or physical disability, with members with a psychotic illness and, with the National Deaf Services, contributes to a team for families with a Deaf member.

The clinic provides an AFT accredited Foundation Level Course comprising one full day followed by 20 x 3 hour evening sessions; and an AFT accredited Qualifying Level Clinical Training Course for people who have completed a Foundation course. The Qualifying course comprises two years of 30 clinical days per year (3 x 10 week terms) plus 20 further study days per year.

Shorter courses and study days are also provided from time to time.
