Visit to AddiPsy, Lyon

12:30 -16:30

I arranged my return to Aime 2000 so I could meet Dr. Eric Peyron and visit the unit he and Dr. Benjamin Rolland started up in June 2017 in Lyon. Hugely impressive service and best discussion about mental health care I’ve had in years. How come we don’t seem to be able to do this in the UK?

Beautiful if rather challenging transition from Lyon to Aime 2000!

09:00 -19:00
17/07/2018Europe/Berlin

Tram and underground easy from hotel to Gare Lyon-Part-Dieu but train >30min late leaving Lyon. Bus I thought would take me up from Aime to Aime 2000 doesn’t exist (partly my fault, misreading timetable but not entirely!) Amazingly kind Aurélie and Damien did get Cerise back to me by 18.00 which I suspect was beyond the call of normal generosity, finally nice cab ride up and treated myself to meal in “Panoramique” with a view of Mont Blanc almost as good as from the apartment! Back in situ, onwards!

Meeting CA in Champagny en bas

All day

Champagny en bas
Champagny en bas, Champagny valley, France

By great luck CA and her partner were in the Alps meeting her brother and family and staying near Huez. We agreed to meet in Champagny en bas (lower Champagny) as it would have taken them at least another 3 hours to their round trip to come up to me in Aime 2000. See My first near visitors: 18.vii.18 … cycling and isolation/loneliness for blog post (from 22.vii.18).

Tour de France came through Aime

All day

Aime
Aime, 73210 France

This a day I’d been waiting for with some interest: my first chance to see the TdF live! It was stage 12 of the 2018 or 105th TdF from Bourg-Saint-Maurice, the nearest real town to me up here in the mountains, through 175.5km later, to the finish on the legendary Alpe d’Huez. That map should zoom and pan for you but it’s centred pretty much on my chosen vantage point in front of the Salle de Spectacle and looking across to the glorious Basilique Saint Martin. More in blog post …
