Seven point summaries

Well this is really small print but it’s an absolute joy for an amateur statistics geek. These are all extensions of the five point summary (minimum, lower quartile, median, upper quartile and maximum to save you clicking through!)

There are three seven point summaries!

OK, I admit I made up that last name: it’s just that it’s the only one of the three that doesn’t seem to have had an inventor and hence not to carry someone’s name.

They are three genuinely interestingly different descriptors of distributions but this is very small print and I have never seen any of them used in reports or papers in our arenas.
